Unit Cartons
Unit cartons are a standard form of secondary packaging for smaller products intended for sale in a retail environment. These boxes are not intended to be sent direct to a customer, and typically are sent to retailers or distributors in a master case. Unit cartons come in various styles such as RTE, STE, TTAB, TTSLB, and more. All of these styles refer to how the flaps on the top and bottom of the box close. The right choice for you depends on the product, and your budget. These boxes can also be customized with various types of paperboard materials and thicknesses to give your packaging a unique look and feel in competitive retail environments.
When to use:
- The product is relatively small and lightweight
- When you will be shipping with a master case
- Health and beauty products
- Certain food products

Gable Boxes
Gable boxes are an attractive option for certain types of products intended for sale in a retail environment. The advantage of the gable is that it creates a large billboard space for graphics and branding, while utilizing the available blank very efficiently. The benefit of efficiently using the blank size is that they are cheaper to manufacture, and thus generally more cost effective than adding a header to a unit carton. This style has shown to be especially popular with health and beauty products such as makeup removers, face masks, and wipes. However, style is also commonly seen used for candies and gift boxes. The example box shown here was customized with a diecut window and a spot UV finish to make the mask appear wet against the matte box.
When to use:
- Health and Beauty products
- Gift Boxes
- Retail sales

RETT Boxes
Roll End Tuck Top (RETT) and Econo boxes don't always have to be made from corrugate. This style of box can also be made from various chipboard materials. RETT's have an attached lid and front panel that can be secured between the two side panels without glue or tape via the optional cherry locks. The top lid also has optional dust flaps that remove all rough edges on the top lid, with the added benefit of keeping the inside clean. The main advantage of both RETTs and Econos is that they are extremely versatile, and can designed with custom inserts. Custom inserts are a great way to keep your product secure during shipping, and provide a better unboxing experience for your customers. Although this style of box are intended to be used as mailers, it is not recommended that RETT's made of chipboard be sent directly though the mail. You might wonder then why this style of box is useful when made from chipboard. The advantage is that they still retain the same great unboxing experience as a corrugated mailer, and they do not need to be glued. Since they are unglued an entire machine operation is eliminated, which lowers the manufacturing and subsequent unit cost. It is also much cheaper to print high definition graphics on chipboard than a corrugated mailer.
When to use:
- Customer unboxing experience is vital
- Popular with health and beauty products.
- Products sold as kits with several components

Envelopes
Envelopes are a simple and cost effective way to package flat items. This style is popular with nutraceutical companies looking for an elegant way to package multiple stick packs. Envelopes are also a great way to package product samples for trade shows and influencers since it allows for more branding space, and feels more premium than paper. Envelopes, like other chipboard boxes, can be customized with different types of paper board, colors, die cut windows, and foil stamping. Notice the example here from one of our customers who used an envelope to package stick packs of CBD honey sticks.
When to use:
- The product is flat and wide
- Stickpacks and Sachets

Retail Case Packs
Retail case packs are designed as multipack retail boxes for cans and bottles. Like Unit Cartons, these boxes can be customized with different closure styles, windows, and paperboard material and thickness. These boxes are a popular option for beverage companies because they provide a greater area for branding than a carrying case or loose product on a shelf. They are also a popular way to package multipacks so that customers can conveniently sample multiple SKUs. It is also easier to print high definition graphics on chipboard than corrugated, which makes these a cost effective option. These boxes, however, cannot be sent directly to the consumer without some type of shipping or master case for protection.
When to use:
- Product is a beverage
- Competitive retail environments
- Promotional/Season Items
- Newer brands looking to establish themselves

POP Displays
Chipboard POP displays are extremely popular for creating brand awareness and promoting impulse buys. That is why checkout counters in almost all retail chains are littered them. They are perfect for a wide range of items such as energy shots, balms and lotions, snacks, and even small household items like flashlights or lighters. The useful features of this design are that top flap converts into the display's header, and the tear perforation allows the box to easily convert from a unit carton style to a display. These features are useful because the product is better protected inside of its master case, and they allow the box to be easily converted to a display once at the retailer. These can be customized with different styles of bottom flaps, tear perforation or no tear perforation, Header or no header, and inserts to hold individual items in place.
When to use:
- Create brand awareness and promote impulse buys
- Product sample sales
- Product Promotions
- Small everyday products

Carrying Cases
This case design is rather self-explanatory. Chipboard carrying cases can be customized to hold either 4 or 6 bottles/cans. They are convenient for grab and go beverage sales, but also allow for product to be sold individually as well. We manufacture our carrying cases with high quality chipboard and adhesives to help prevent any structural failures. Like the other designs mentioned above, chipboard carrying cases are cheaper to print with high definition graphics than corrugated carrying cases.
When to use:
- Beverage Products
- Grab and go retail sales
